5 Tips to Control Your Thoughts

Sometimes, our thoughts can feel like they’re running wild. Here’s how to take the reins and steer them towards more peaceful pastures:

1. Practice Mindfulness

Spend a few minutes each day focusing on your breathing or the sensations in your body. This practice can help you remain in the present moment and detach from invasive thoughts.

2. Challenge Negative Thoughts

When a negative thought enters your mind, challenge its validity. Ask yourself if it’s really true or if there’s a more positive angle you could take.

3. Set Aside ‘Thinking Time’

Just like scheduling meetings, set aside specific times to ponder over your thoughts. Outside these periods, if intrusive thoughts pop up, remind yourself to save them for later.

Write down repetitive thoughts. Seeing them on paper can make them less daunting and allows you to analyze and manage them more effectively.

Exercise isn’t just good for the body—it’s also great for the mind. Physical activity can help clear your mind and reduce the intensity of your thoughts.
